It is proposed to develop as a controlled access highway a portion of Route 4 in Alpine County for a distance of 17.9 miles along the existing route. The primary adverse environmental impact will be some loss of trees and ground cover and a change in land form due to construction of cuts and fills. It is expected that there will be a temporary increase in air pollution due to the increase in vehicle traffic using this improved highway. The construction will result in some loss of cattle grazing land and wildlife habitat.
