An overview of the space activities conducted by the Canadian Space Agency established in 1989 to implement space-oriented activities by Canadian ministries and agencies is presented in the following aspects: (1) synthetic aperture radar satellite RADARSAT program; (2) space station Freedom program; (3) joining to the ESA (a sole non-European participant); (4) space science (microgravity, fluid physics, combustion, material research and life science) programs including participation in NASDA (National Space Development Agency of Japan) Test Rocket-1A (TR-1A) small rocket project, supply of ion mass spectrometer for Japanese scientific satellite Akebono, ultraviolet aurora imaging equipment for Russian interpole and Swedish flare; and (5) space technology program including the space station, earth mission, and communication. Canadian International Space Year (ISY) activities are outlined.
