An overview of Canada's long-term space plan and International Space Year (ISY) activities is presented. An outline of the following is presented: the responsibilities and fiscal year's expenditures (including those for the Space Station Freedom, RADARSAT, Canada's Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite, etc.); five major space programs implemented by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA); Canadian space industry's activities; Canada's space science programs (in the fields of fluid physics, combustion, materials research, and life sciences); and technology programs (including the space station, Mission to Planet Earth, and communication). Canada's major contribution for ISY Canadian 'Global Change Encyclopedia', named 'GOESCOPE' and led by the CSA and the Canadian Center for Remote Sensing (CCRS) and other ISY activities are outlined.
