Environmental and ship performance data were collected aboard the USCGC POLAR SEA during the period March-May 1983 as part of a multi-year program to make an operational assessment on the feasibility of a year-round marine transportation system (including offshore structures) serving Alaska. This is the third volume of a four volume set and focuses on the performance of the icebreaker from the ice edge in the South Bering Sea to the North Chukchi Sea at Wainwright, Alaska.
