A classic free flight setup, light-gas guns, hypersonic free flight systems, a counterflow test facility, and hypersonic shock tubes are described. They can reproduce high ramming enthalpy and have short or very short measuring times, requiring the application of measuring methods which are unusual in aerodynamics.
