A time-interval measuring module (TIMM), which achieves precision about 50-60 picoseconds (RMS), is integrated on Xilinx's Virtex 4 FPGA. Implementation a TIMM on FPGA provides not only high scale of integration, but also higher precision and shorter dead time compared to traditional methods. Principle of operation, architecture of the prototype and the construction of this TIMM are presented.
