This paper investigates the advantages of a Switched Reluctance Machine for traction applications. The proposed 16/12 SRM is capable of low-ripple torque and high power density. The design features such as high slot fill and number of turns are discussed in detail. The system efficiency is studied considering turns, control and inverter. The loss and efficiency by different laminations are investigated.
