A drive system based on a switched reluctance motor (SRM) is designed, simulated, and implemented during a master thesis work. The system is further developed in the context of a power engineering design project course at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. The setup structure, some simulation results, and practical measurement results are presented in this paper. The whole procedure including students activities shows that the developed drive system provides a concrete background for power electronics and drive education.
