Influence of winding topologies on current harmonics and air-gap flux harmonics in an in-wheel induction motor (IM) for electric vehicle (EV) traction is the basis of this study. In an IM, current and air-gap flux should be sinusoidal. Current follows source frequency and air-gap flux follows the number of poles. Due to the coil distribution, harmonics in current and air-gap flux are majorly affected. In this paper, five phase hub type induction motor is analyzed with three different winding topologies using numerical analysis to study the current and air-gap flux harmonics. Finally, the harmonics of the windings are compared using total harmonic distortion.
