This paper presents results of a study investigating total cutting force components in milling magnesium alloys. Two magnesium alloy grades were tested: AZ91HP/D and AZ31B. A TiAlN-coated carbide tool with a diameter of 16mm was used in the study. The effect of changes in technological parameters on the cutting force components was determined. Machining tests showed that technological parameters has a significant impact on the cutting forces and their amplitudes. In addition to that, the effect of cutting parameters on the root mean square (RMS) value of cutting force components was investigated. It was found that the feed component had higher values. The analyzed cutting force components were affected to a greater extent by feed per tooth. The cutting force components decreased in a high-speed machining (HMS) area.
