The paper is devoted to the ‘GARFIELD’ system and its field sensor technology. The system delivers online, realtime information on grassy airfield conditions by means of the internet of things: sensors and base computers. The paper describes the technology of sensors and online data transfer that have been applied for the ‘GARFIELD’ information system. An optical non-contact sensor for grass length measurements and monitoring together with a TDR (Time-Domain Reflectometry) turf moisture sensor integrated in one field measuring device has been prorposed as solutions from measurement technology.
