The paper presents a study on identification of grassy runway surface geometry that is required to describe airfields in the GARFIELD information system. The surface geometry includes surface unevenness and roughness and may change over time. The chosen identification methods-the GPS profilometry and LIDAR surface scanning-are easy and quick to use. The paper includes a description of the methods as well as results obtained for a sample grassy airfield
