This paper introduces vector control of six-phase PMSMs with selective harmonic elimination PWM (SHEPWM) technology. Mathematic model of six-phase PMSM is given. Then relation between harmonic currents and voltages is derived. Harmonic current responses of salient pole six-phase PMSMs and non-salient pole six-phase PMSMs are different by applying the same harmonic voltage excitation. Besides, the method of smooth transition between different SHEPWMs is given. Some experiments which based on vector control of six-phase PMSM with SHEPWM have been completed to test those conclusions correctness.
