Two fast online Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) flux estimation methods, reactive power feedback and extended Kalman filter based methods, are analyzed and compared from machine real torque optimization point of view. The analysis has been carried out, firstly, in simulation and afterwards, it has experimentally been validated on a 120kW SPMSM railway traction prototype.
