In recent years, accidents occurred at the highway of median opening sometimes, and resulted in greater casualties and property losses. Therefore, it becomes more and more important to avoid crash for highway barriers of median opening. This paper presents a kind of frame-type crash barrier on the finite element simulation analysis and the safety performance evaluation in order to ensure the traffic safety. The results show that all the indexes of the barrier can meet the requirements of the evaluation criteria, and can be applied in practical projects. At the same time, it also shows that it is feasible to use the simulation method to evaluate the safety of barriers.
