The master thesis “UAV localization in GPS denied environments using two omnidirectional RGB cameras“ is concerned with the localization of an unmanned aerial vehicle only with images from two omnidirectional cameras. It will present and explain the properties and possibilities of omnidirectional images. In the context of these thesis, a new localization method based on HOG descriptors was developed. This method is described together with other global-appearance techniques. A comprehensive evaluation in a realistic environment is the conclusion of this work.
