One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for controlling an electronic parking brake, which comprises: an initiation determination step of determining whether to initiate an operation of releasing an electronic parking brake, based on whether a release signal is inputted or not; a calculation step of calculating a no-load release time and a minimum electronic parking brake (EPB) release time when the release operation is initiated; a no-load release time correction step of measuring a time of a no-load section, based on a current flowing through a motor and supplying current to a motor until the time of the no-load section is equal to the calculated no-load release time to correct the time of the no-load section; and a release step of adding the time of a load section and the corrected time of the no-load section and determining whether the added time meets a minimal EPB release time, wherein current is continuously supplied to a motor when the added time is less than the minimal EPB release time and until the added time becomes equal to the EPB release time. Accordingly, a sufficient air gap is ensured between a brake pad and a brake disk to eliminate drag torque, thereby enhancing efficiency of fuel consumption for a vehicle and preventing premature wear of the brake pad.

    본 개시의 일 실시예에 의하면, 해제신호(release signal) 입력여부에 기초하여 전동식 주차브레이크 해제동작을 개시할 지 여부를 판단하는 개시 결정과정; 해제동작이 개시되면, 무부하 해제시간 및 최소 EPB 해제시간을 연산하는 연산과정; 모터에 흐르는 전류에 기초하여 무부하 구간의 시간을 측정하고, 무부하 구간의 시간이 연산된 무부하 해제시간과 같아질 때까지 모터에 전류를 공급하여 무부하 구간의 시간을 보정하는 무부하 해제시간 보정과정; 및 부하구간의 시간 및 보정된 무부하 구간의 시간을 합산하여 합산된 시간이 최소 EPB 해제시간을 충족하는지 판단하고, 합산된 시간이 최소 EPB 해제시간보다 짧으면 모터에 계속해서 전류를 공급하여 합산된 시간이 EPB 해제시간과 동일해질 때까지 모터에 전류를 공급하는 해제과정을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전동식 주차브레이크 제어방법을 제공한다.
