The present invention relates to a method for controlling a motor driven power steering (MDPS) device in case of inward shock capable of preventing the deformation of a steering device by limiting a steering angle of the MDPS device in case of a lateral collision of a vehicle due to a vehicle slip while the vehicle drives at a low speed. The method for controlling the MDPS device in case of inward shock according to the present invention includes a driving information analyzing step (S110) receiving the lateral acceleration, a yaw rate, and a driving speed of a vehicle which drives; a driving speed comparing step (S120) determining whether the driving speed of the vehicle is a steering angle limit driving speed, which is preset to limit the steering angle, or lower by comparing the driving speed of the vehicle and the preset steering angle limit driving speed; a vehicle slip determining step (S130) determining whether a vehicle slip is occurred or not if the driving speed of the vehicle is the steering angle limit driving speed or lower; a slip pattern determining step (S140) determining whether a vehicle slip direction is different from a vehicle steering direction when it is determined that the vehicle slip is occurred; a steering angle range determining step (S150) determining whether a steering angle of a steering wheel manipulated by a driver is a preset steering angle limit steering angle or higher when the vehicle slip direction and the vehicle steering direction are different from each other; and a steering angle reducing step (S160) reducing the maximum steering angle when the steering angle is the steering angle limit steering angle or higher.
