To provide a position detector that can increase detection accuracy.SOLUTION: A stroke sensor 1 comprises: a target 2 that is fixed to a rack shaft 13; and a substrate 3 that is formed with an excitation coil 31 generating a magnetic field in a range including the target 2 and a sine waveform shape detection coil 32 and a cosine waveform shape detection coil 33 in which magnetic fluxes of the magnetic field generated by the excitation coil 31 are interlinked. The sine waveform shape detection coil 32 and a cosine waveform shape detection coil 33 have a shape in which a pair of curved line parts are combined which are symmetrical across a central axis C parallel to an axial direction of the rack shaft 13, and each curved line part has a shape obtained by multiplying and superimposing a sinusoidal fundamental wave component by a coefficient of a third or higher harmonic content according to a degree. The coefficient is adjusted so that a peak value of voltage induced in the sine waveform shape detection coil 32 and a cosine waveform shape detection coil 33 when the target 2 moves at a constant speed with respect to the substrate 3 while facing a part of the substrate 3 changes in a sinusoidal pattern.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10

    【課題】検出精度を高めることが可能な位置検出装置を提供する。【解決手段】ストロークセンサ1は、ラックシャフト13に固定されたターゲット2と、ターゲット2を含む範囲に磁界を発生させる励磁コイル31及び励磁コイル31の磁界の磁束が鎖交する正弦波形状検出コイル32及び余弦波形状検出コイル33が形成された基板3とを備える。正弦波形状検出コイル32及び余弦波形状検出コイル33は、ラックシャフト13の軸方向と平行な中心軸線Cを挟んで対称となる一対の湾曲線部を組み合わせた形状であり、それぞれの湾曲線部は、正弦波状の基本波成分に3次以上の高調波成分が次数に応じた係数を乗じて重畳された形状である。係数は、ターゲット2が基板3の一部に対向しながら基板3に対して一定の速度で移動したときに正弦波形状検出コイル32及び余弦波形状検出コイル33に誘起される電圧のピーク値が正弦波状に変化するように調整されたものである。【選択図】図10
