To provide an electrode of an electrostatic capacitance type sensor in a part different from a rim of a steering wheel, without providing the electrode on the rim, and highly accurately detect that a human hand contacts with or approaches the rim.SOLUTION: A sensor device detects that a hand of a driver contacts with or approaches a steering device operated in a state where the driver grips it. The steering device has a gripping part that is a part gripped by the driver and a part different from the gripping part, the sensor device including an electrode that is provided in a part different from the gripping part of the steering device and can capacitively coupled to the hand of the driver to be detected, and a control part which is electrically connected to the electrode and detects the change in the electrostatic capacitance of the electrode generated when the hand of the driver contacts with or approaches the gripping part, and determines whether or not the hand of the driver contacts with or approaches the gripping part on the basis of the change in the electrostatic capacitance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
