To provide a hybrid rotary wing aircraft for driving a rotary wing mainly by an internal combustion engine which requires a small capacity of a battery.SOLUTION: A hybrid rotary wing aircraft includes internal combustion engines (40 and 42), at least four rotary wings, a motor (30), and M/G (32 and 34). When rotary wings (21q and 21r) connected to the motor (30) are defined as first rotary wings, and rotary wings (24q and 24r) which are connected to the M/G (32 and 34) and are connectable to the internal combustion engines (40 and 42) through an OWC (36a) are defined as second rotary wings, the first rotary wings are composed of at least the two rotary wings (21q and 21r) and are arranged on both the right and left ends in front of an airframe (10), and the second rotary wings are composed of at least the two rotary wings (24q and 24r) and are arranged on the right and left sides of the airframe (10).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
