To improve the estimation precision for a wear quantity of a brake pad of a vehicle.SOLUTION: A wear quantity function represents a wear quantity as a function of a vehicle speed, brake pressure, and a brake duration. When the vehicle is braked, a wear quantity estimation device performs wear quantity calculation processing in which the wear quantity function is used to calculate a wear quantity corresponding to the vehicle speed, brake pressure and brake duration. The wear quantity estimation device also estimates a temperature of a contact part of the brake pad which comes into contact with a brake rotor based upon the vehicle speed, brake pressure and brake duration. The wear quantity estimation device further updates temperature history information at least representing a temperature history of the contact part based upon the temperature of the contact part. In the wear quantity calculation processing, the wear quantity function is variably set according to the temperature history of the contact part represented with the temperature history information obtained in the last braking.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
