To obtain an ideal shaft collapse state even if a load in a vehicle cross direction acts due to off-set collision.SOLUTION: An impact absorption member has a cylindrical body which is deformed into a shaft collapse state due to an impact compressive load, and the cylindrical body has a polygonal cross section with a plurality of side walls, and comprises a first side wall which becomes a top face, and a second side wall which becomes an undersurface, and a middle wall which connects both side walls. A plurality of trigger parts, which are bent into a concave groove shape along a direction crossing an axial direction of the cylindrical body, are formed on both side parts of the first side wall and the second side wall so as to be spaced apart from each other in the axial direction of the cylindrical body. These trigger parts are formed at a substantially same position so as to alternately face in a vertical direction on the first side wall and the second side wall via a width direction center in each side wall. On a third side wall located on a width direction inner side of a vehicle body and a fourth side wall located on a width direction outer side thereof, at least one deformation easy part is formed so as to be arranged at a substantially same position as any one of the trigger parts located at the side part on a connection part side with these side walls.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】オフセット衝突により車両横方向への荷重が作用する場合でも理想的な軸圧潰状態を得る。【解決手段】衝撃圧縮荷重によって軸圧潰状態に変形する筒体を有し、筒体は、複数の側壁を有する横断面多角形状をなしており、上面となる第1側壁と、下面となる第2側壁と、両側壁を連結する中壁とを備え、第1側壁及び第2側壁の両側部に、筒体の軸方向と交差する方向に沿って凹溝状に屈曲形成してなる複数のトリガー部が筒体の軸方向に相互間隔をおいて形成され、これらトリガー部は、各側壁において幅方向の中心を介して互い違いに、第1側壁と第2側壁とで上下方向に対向するようにほぼ同じ位置に形成されており、車体本体の幅方向内側に配置される第3側壁及び幅方向外側に配置される第4側壁には、これら側壁との接続部側における側部に配置されているトリガー部のいずれかとほぼ同じ位置で並ぶように変形容易部が少なくとも1個形成されている。【選択図】図4
