To reduce a failure of cutting in a congested column of vehicles.SOLUTION: A travel support method is to detect information on a surrounding environment of a vehicle itself and support the vehicle to travel in cutting in a congested column of vehicles on the basis of the information on the surrounding environment. The method includes: calculating a possibility of cutting in at a discretionary position of the congested column of vehicles on the basis of an inter-vehicular distance between two vehicles-in-congestion that constitute the congested column of vehicles at a discretionary position in the congested column of vehicles and are adjacent to each other in a front-rear direction; correcting the possibility of cutting in toward lower proportionately as a distance from a tail end of the congested column of vehicles to the aforementioned position increases; and supporting the travel of the vehicle itself so as to cut in to the congested column of vehicles at the position where the possibility of cutting in is higher than a reference value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】渋滞車列への割り込みの失敗を低減する。【解決手段】走行支援方法は、自車の周辺環境の情報を検出し、周辺環境の情報に基づいて自車両が渋滞車列に割り込みを行うように走行を支援する支援方法である。走行支援方法は、渋滞車列の任意の位置において渋滞車列を構成し前後方向に隣接する2つの渋滞車両の車間距離に基づいて、渋滞車列の任意の位置における割り込み実現性を算出し、渋滞車列の最後尾から前記位置までの距離が長いほど、割り込み実現性をより低く補正し、割り込み実現性が基準値よりも大きい前記位置において前記渋滞車列への割り込みが行われるように、自車両の走行を支援する。【選択図】図3
