To provide: a method for manufacturing a rivet joint structure that can provide a structure having high cross tension strength and high tensile shear strength; and a rivet joint structure and automobile components that have high cross tension strength and high tensile shear strength.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a rivet joint structure 1 comprises the steps of: overlapping a plurality of members 100 and 100' in which through holes are formed; inserting a metal rivet 110 having a shaft portion 111 into the through holes; and sandwiching the rivet 110 between a pair of electrodes, pressurizing the rivet 110 and energizing the pair of electrodes to generate resistance heat in the rivet 110, so as to deform at least one end of the rivet 110, as well as to expand a part of the shaft portion 111 of the rivet 110 into a space.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
