To improve combustion stability in a lean operation region by increasing temperature of air-fuel mixture at starting compression in the lean operation region out of an operation region where CI combustion is performed.SOLUTION: An intake temperature control device for an engine includes air intake parts for taking air into an intake passage 40, and an intake temperature control means (a flow control valve 63, a grille shutter 81, a radiator fan 82, and an intake control valve 143) for controlling the temperature of the air to be taken from the air intake parts into the intake passage 40. When the operating condition of an engine body 10 is in the lean operation region out of the operation region where the engine body 10 performs CI combustion, an ECU 100 outputs a control signal to the intake temperature control means so that the temperature of the air to be taken from the air intake parts 141, 142 into the intake passage 40 is increased further than when the operating condition of the engine body 10 is in a rich operation region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6

    【課題】CI燃焼を行う運転領域におけるリーン運転領域において、圧縮開始時の混合気の温度を高くして、リーン運転領域での燃焼安定性を向上させる。【解決手段】吸気通路40に空気を取り込む空気取入部と、空気取入部から吸気通路40に取り入れる空気の温度を調整する吸気温度調整手段(流量コントロール弁63、グリルシャッタ81、ラジエータファン82、吸気調整弁143)とを備え、ECU100は、エンジン本体10がCI燃焼を行う運転領域において、エンジン本体10の運転状態がリーン運転領域であるときには、エンジン本体10の運転状態がリッチ運転領域であるときと比較して、空気取入部141,142から吸気通路40に取り入れる空気の温度が高くなるように、吸気温度調整手段に制御信号を出力する。【選択図】図6
