To provide a rubber composition for a tire side wall having excellent toughness, flexibility and excellent processability.SOLUTION: There is provided a rubber composition which comprises (a) a rubber component containing 35 to 65 mass% of a butadiene rubber, (b) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by the formula (1) and a salt of the compound and (c) carbon black and/or an inorganic filler. (R1, R2, R3 and R4 are the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic group, R3 and R4 may be bonded to each other to form an alkylidene group, any two of R2, R3 and R4 may be bonded to each other to form an alkylene group, each group of which may have one or more substituents.)SELECTED DRAWING: None
