To provide a tire testing method capable of accurately adjusting a temperature of a traveling surface of a traveling test machine.SOLUTION: The performance evaluation method of a tire 22 includes: a step of setting the tire 22 on a traveling test machine 6 having a traveling surface 34; and a step of measuring a temperature of the traveling surface 34, adjusting an environmental temperature of the traveling test machine 6 in accordance with a measurement result of the temperature so that the travelling surface 34 becomes a predetermined temperature, and measuring a performance of the tire 22 while making the tire 22 travel on the travelling surface 34. Preferably, the traveling surface 34 is an ice surface. The measured performance of the tire 22 is preferably a friction coefficient of the tire 22.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
