To provide a periphery recognition device and an on-vehicle camera system capable of determining a travel direction of an object recognized by a recognition section in a short time.SOLUTION: A periphery recognition device 2 includes: an input section 22 for accepting recognition results from a front camera 1a for picking up a front image of a vehicle so as to recognize an object positioned in a front part and a right side camera 1b or a left side camera 1c for picking up a side image of the vehicle so as to recognize an object positioned on a side part; and a determination section 26 for determining a travel direction of an object on the basis of recognition results of the cameras 1a-1c.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
