To provide a technique capable of preventing a background image from being updated to an inappropriate image and accurately detecting an object by a background subtraction method.SOLUTION: An object detection unit 11a detects a vehicle 2 located in a target area 10 by a background subtraction method by using a visible light frame image input to an image input unit 13 and obtained by capturing of the target area 10 and a background image of the target area 10 stored in a background image storage unit 12. A background image update unit 11b determines pixels on the frame image input to the image input unit 13, where the pixels are not used in updating the background image, based on a detection signal of a radio wave radar sensor 4 that irradiates the target area 10 with a search wave and detects the vehicle 2 located in the target area 10 based on a detected reflected wave, the detection signal being input to a detection signal input unit 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】背景画像が不適正な画像に更新されるのを防止し、背景差分法でオブジェクトの検出が精度よく行える技術を提供する。【解決手段】オブジェクト検出部11aは、画像入力部13に入力された、対象エリア10を撮像した可視光のフレーム画像と、背景画像記憶部12に記憶している対象エリア10の背景画像と、を用いた背景差分法により対象エリア10内に位置する車両2を検出する。背景画像更新部11bは、画像入力部13に入力されたフレーム画像上の画素であって、背景画像の更新に用いない画素を、検知信号入力部14に入力された、探査波を対象エリア10に照射し、検出した反射波に基づいて対象エリア10内に位置する車両2を検知した電波レーダセンサ4の検知信号に基づいて決定する。【選択図】図2
