To provide an area boundary estimation device and area boundary estimation method, capable of efficiently estimating a boundary of a road-vehicle communication area.SOLUTION: An area boundary estimation device comprises: a frame reception unit 11 for receiving frames periodically transmitted/received between an on-vehicle apparatus and a roadside apparatus or between on-vehicle apparatuses; a synchronization information acquisition unit 13 for acquiring, from a frame received by the frame reception unit 11, synchronization information showing whether or not road-vehicle communication is capable between each on-vehicle apparatus and a roadside apparatus; a road-vehicle communication area determination unit 14 for determining, on the basis of the synchronization information, whether or not a predetermined time has passed after each vehicle's exit from a road-vehicle communication area in which the vehicle can perform road-vehicle communication with the roadside apparatus; a position information extraction unit 15 for extracting position information on each vehicle from a frame from which it is determined by the road-vehicle communication area determination unit 14 that the predetermined time has passed after the vehicle's exit from the road-vehicle communication area; and a position information display unit 20 for displaying on a map the position information extracted by the position information extraction unit 15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
