PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately evaluate the driving risk of a vehicle while taking temporal change of a peripheral environment of the vehicle into consideration.SOLUTION: A peripheral environment recognition device 10 is mounted on a vehicle 2, for recognizing a peripheral environment of the vehicle 2. The peripheral environment recognition device 10 comprises: a self-vehicle information acquisition unit 101 for acquiring self-vehicle information on movement of the vehicle 2; a peripheral environment element acquisition unit 102 for acquiring peripheral environment element information with respect to peripheral environment elements of the vehicle 2; a present time range determination unit 104 for determining a self-vehicle present time range which shows a present time range of the vehicle 2 with respect to positions in the periphery of the vehicle 2 on the basis of the self-vehicle information; and a driving risk determination unit 105 for determining the driving risk in the periphery of the vehicle 2 on the basis of the self-vehicle present time range and the peripheral environment element information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
