PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system, radio communication method, and sensor node capable of suppressing power consumption by autonomously changing an operation period.SOLUTION: A radio communication system includes: a sensor node 101 having power source parts, a sensor part for detecting an equipment state, a first communication section for transmitting measurement information detected by the sensor part and indicating an equipment state to a data collection device arranged in a vehicle, and a control section for changing a first period for allowing the sensor part to detect an equipment state or/and a second period for transmitting measurement information to the data collection device in accordance with incidental information related to the situations of the power source parts and traveling of a vehicle; and the data collection device 105 having a device control section for receiving measurement information from the sensor node 101 within a communication range and transmitting the measurement information to a server for managing the traveling of a vehicle via the second communication section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
