PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit increase of the size of a drive unit and concurrently improve the output of a motor in the drive unit used in a saddle-riding type electric vehicle.SOLUTION: A drive unit (22) is used in a saddle-riding type electric vehicle (10). The drive unit includes a motor (32), a first gear (34), a rotary shaft (36), a second gear (38), and bearings (48A, 48B). The motor has a rotor shaft (62). The first gear is provided at the rotor shaft and rotates at the same speed as the rotor shaft. The rotary shaft is disposed in parallel to the rotor shaft. The second gear is provided in the rotary shaft and configured to engage with the first gear. The bearings rotatably support the rotary shaft. At least parts of the bearings overlap with the motor when viewed in an axial direction of the rotary shaft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
