PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer that can give a rubber composition and a pneumatic tire improved in high mileage property and wet grip performance in a well balanced manner.SOLUTION: The copolymer has a weight average molecular weight Mw of 1.0×10to 2.5×10, which is obtained by allowing a silicon compound having a group represented by formula (III) and/or a group represented by formula (IV) to react with an active terminal of a copolymer that is obtained by polymerizing a conjugate diene compound and an alkoxy-substituted styrene by using an amino group-containing alkali metal polymerization initiator.SELECTED DRAWING: None
