PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer which allows for improvement of a balance between tanδ at 0°C and tanδ of 60°C when used for a rubber composition.SOLUTION: There is provided the copolymer containing a monomer unit (a) derived from a compound represented by the formula (1) and a monomer unit (b) derived from a compound represented by the formula (2) and having a weight average molecular weight of 1000 to 50,000 and a glass transition temperature of -60 to 20°C. In the formula (1) and (2), Ris H or a methyl group, Ris H, a C1 to C8 linear alkyl group or a C3 to 8 branched alkyl group and each independently one of Rto Ris a C3 to 8 aliphatic hydrocarbon group and remaining are H or C1 to 2 aliphatic hydrocarbon group.SELECTED DRAWING: None
