PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater vehicle relative position control method and an underwater vehicle relative position control system capable of keeping an acoustic communication state between an underwater vehicle and a water surface vehicle in an appropriate state.SOLUTION: An underwater vehicle relative position control system comprises: a communication-state measuring device 3 disposed in each of a water surface navigation vehicle 2 and an underwater vehicle 1 and measuring an acoustic communication state; and a position control device 4 moving the underwater vehicle 1 or the water surface vehicle 2, the position control device 4 being configured to move the underwater vehicle 1 or the water surface vehicle 2 in such a manner that the underwater vehicle 1 is present in a location having a relatively high sound pressure in an underwater sound pressure distribution on the basis of an output of the communication-state measuring device 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
