PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection system capable of obtaining image data having a correct value without the influence of weather or sunshine while dispensing with a switching operation for a searchlight irradiation direction.SOLUTION: An obstacle detection system comprises: a short-distance photographing unit 11 mounted in a vehicle that travels along a raceway, photographing a range from a first distance from the vehicle to a second distance farther from the vehicle than the first distance, and obtaining image information; a long-distance photographing unit 12 mounted in the vehicle, photographing a range from a third distance, which is between the first distance and the second distance, from the vehicle to a fourth distance farther from the vehicle than the second distance, and obtaining image information; a laser radar 13 mounted in the vehicle and radiating a laser beam to a range from a fifth distance, which is between the first distance and the third distance, from the vehicle to a sixth distance between the third distance and the second distance; and an obstacle detection unit 18 determining whether an obstacle is present in the clearance limit on the basis of the image information from the short-distance photographing unit and the long-distance photographing unit and information from the laser radar, and outputting obstacle detection information when the obstacle is present.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
