PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid implementing determination as to whether objects are identical on the basis of incorrect positional information.SOLUTION: A plurality of object detection sensors 20 each transmitting a survey wave and receiving a reflection wave thereof as detection information on an object is provided in a vehicle 30. An ECU 10 serving as an object detector determines whether a previously detected object is identical to a currently detected object on the basis of positional information on an object calculated in computation cycles by a previous detection and positional information on an object calculated in a current computation cycle. Furthermore, when determining that the previously detected object is not identical to the currently detected object and the reliability of the positional information on the object calculated in the previous computation cycle is equal to or higher than a predetermined value, the ECU implements provisional determination processing for determining whether there is a probability that the previously detected object is identical to the currently detected object. When the provisional determination processing determines that there is a probability that the two objects are identical, the ECU defers determining that the previously detected object is different from the currently detected object.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】間違った位置情報に基づき同一物体判定を実施することを回避する。【解決手段】車両30には、探査波を送信してその反射波を物体の検知情報として受信する複数の物体検知センサ20が設けられている。物体検知装置としてのECU10は、前回までの演算周期で算出した物体の位置情報と、今回の演算周期で算出した物体の位置情報とに基づいて、前回の検知物体と今回の検知物体とが同一物体か否かを判定する。また、同一物体でないと判定され、かつ前回の演算周期で算出した物体の位置情報の信頼度が所定以上である場合に、前回の検知物体と今回の検知物体とが同一物体の可能性があるか否かを判定する仮判定処理を実施する。仮判定処理により同一物体の可能性があると判定された場合には、前回の検知物体と今回の検知物体とが別物体であると判定することを保留する。【選択図】図4
