PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly discharge electric power generated by fuel cell stack while suppressing manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: A fuel cell system 1 includes: a fuel cell stack 10 that generates electric power by electrochemical reaction and supplies the generated electric power to a vehicle driving electric motor; a discharge circuit 80; and a discharge control circuit 90. The discharge circuit 80 is capable of forming a plurality of discharge paths, through which the electric power is discharged from the fuel cell stack 10, by switching a connection relation among a plurality of resistive elements using a plurality of switching elements. When instructed to discharge the electric power from the fuel cell stack 10, the discharge control circuit 90 starts discharge through a first discharge path by forming the first discharge path in the discharge circuit 80 and, when a detection voltage corresponding to an output voltage of the fuel cell stack 10 becomes lower than a predetermined threshold voltage, switches from the discharge through the first discharge path to discharge through a second discharge path, whose resistance value is smaller than that of the first discharge path, by forming the second discharge path in the discharge circuit 80.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
