PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel recovery systems and recovery methods for unmanned underwater vehicles.SOLUTION: A recovery system 200 includes a detachable load that renders a UUV neutrally buoyant in water. The recovery system 200 further includes a plurality of release mechanisms 202, 203, 204 that detach a load 206 to render the UUV positively buoyant in the water. The plurality of release mechanisms include a first, a second, and a third release mechanisms. The first release mechanism 202 detaches the load in response to a command signal. The second release mechanism 203 detaches the load in response to the UUV being submerged in the water beyond a threshold time. The third release mechanism 204 detaches the load in response to the UUV exceeding a maximum depth in the water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
