PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic signal recognition device and a computer program, capable of recognizing that a red light is changed to a green light in a traffic signal with improved accuracy.SOLUTION: The traffic signal recognition device detects an image pattern of two circles adjacent side by side, an image pattern of the two circles connecting to each other in a horizontal direction, and an image pattern RecP of a shape that is obtained by partially overlapping the two circles in the horizontal direction and then removing an overlapped portion of the two circles, the image patterns being included in a difference image Id that is generated on the basis of an absolute value of a difference between an image I(t) photographed with a camera 1 and an image I(t-1) photographed a few minutes before, wherein it is detected that the red light is changed to the green light in the traffic signal, when any one of the image patterns is detected and at the same time, a high luminance region present in a region of the detected image pattern has moved from right to left by the time of photographing of the image I(t) from the time of photographing of the image I(t-1).
【課題】より精度よく交通信号機の赤信号から青信号への変化を認識できる「交通信号機認識装置及びコンピュータプログラム」を提供する。【解決手段】カメラ1で撮影した画像I(t)と数秒前に撮影された画像I(t-1)との差分の絶対値によって生成した差分画像Idに含まれる、左右に並んだ二つの円の画像パターン、二つの円が左右方向に連結した画像パターン、二つの円を左右方向に部分的に重ねた上で二つの円の重複部分を抜き取った形状の画像パターンRecPを検出する。いずれかの画像パターンが検出でき、かつ、検出した画像パターンの領域内にある高輝度領域が、画像I(t-1)の撮影時から画像I(t)の撮影時までに右から左に移動している場合に、交通信号機の赤信号から青信号への変化を検出する。【選択図】図4
