PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for coating a tire fiber having good adhesiveness to fibers such as carcass and capable of adding higher breaking physical property and heat generating property than conventional art while maintaining hardness and modulus, and a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: There is provided a rubber composition for coating a tire fiber by blending, with respect to 100 pts.mass of a diene rubber containing 30 to 100 pts.mass of a natural rubber, 0 to 40 pts.mass of a styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber and 0 to 30 pts.mass of a butadiene rubber, 30 to 80 pts.mass of carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (NSA) of 50 m/g or less, 0.5 to 10 pts.mass of a phenol resin containing for example 0.5 to 10 mass% of bisphenol S and 0.1 to 10 pts.mass of a methylene donor compound.

    【課題】自動車用タイヤには強い衝撃や大きな荷重がかかるため、補強材として各種繊維が用いられている。このような繊維を被覆するゴムは、繊維との良好な接着性、高い硬度および破断物性並びに低発熱性が求められている。しかし、従来技術のタイヤ繊維被覆用ゴム組成物の前記各特性は、依然として十分なレベルに到達していない。【解決手段】天然ゴム30〜100質量部、スチレン−ブタジエン共重合体ゴム0〜40質量部およびブタジエンゴム0〜30質量部を含むジエン系ゴム100質量部に対し、窒素吸着比表面積(N2SA)が50m2/g以下であるカーボンブラックを30〜80質量部、例えばビスフェノールSを0.5〜10質量%含むフェノール樹脂を0.5〜10質量部、およびメチレンドナー化合物を0.1〜10質量部配合してなるタイヤ繊維被覆用ゴム組成物によって上記課題を解決した。【選択図】なし
