PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mechanically connect a steering wheel to tires at appropriate timing after detecting a failure in a steer-by-wire steering gear.SOLUTION: A vehicle steering controller comprises: steering-reaction-force computing/allocating means 12 computing and allocating a steering reaction force torque for returning a steering wheel 1 to a neutral direction on the basis of an angle of the steering wheel 1 and a velocity of a vehicle; and steering computing/allocating means 13 computing and allocating a steering torque for steering tires 10 on the basis of a steering gear ratio preset based on the velocity. The steering-reaction-force computing/allocating means 12 and the steering computing/allocation means 13 respectively include failure detection means 23, 93 detecting a failure; clutch-engagement-limit-time computing means computing clutch engagement limit time from at least a steering current just before the failure and the velocity of the vehicle just before the failure when the failure is detected, the clutch engagement limit time being limit time since detection of the failure until output of an engagement command to a clutch 11.
【課題】ステアバイワイヤ式の操舵装置におけるフェール検知後に、適切なタイミングでハンドルとタイヤ間を機械的に接続する。【解決手段】ハンドル1の角度と車両の走行速度に基づき、ハンドル1を中立方向へ戻そうとする操舵反力トルクを演算し付与する操舵反力演算付与手段12と、前記走行速度に基づき、予め定めた転舵ギア比に基づきタイヤ10を転舵する転舵トルクを演算し付与する転舵演算付与手段13と、を有する。操舵反力演算付与手段12、前記転舵演算付与手段13は、フェールを検出するフェール検出手段23、93と、フェールを検出した時に、フェールを検出してからクラッチ11へ接続指令を出力するまでの限界時間であるクラッチ接続限界時間を少なくともフェール直前の転舵電流とフェール直前の車両の走行速度から演算するクラッチ接続限界時間演算手段とを備えた。【選択図】図2
