PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack guide mechanism which makes pinion teeth and rack teeth less likely to separate from each other while reducing an initial pre-load.SOLUTION: A rack guide mechanism includes: a rack guide 10 which presses a rack shaft 105 to the pinion shaft 104 side; a housing 20 which movably stores the rack guide 10; a compression coil spring 40 which biases the rack guide 10 to the rack shaft 105 side; and a cornice 50 which is arranged parallel with the compression coil spring 40 in a moving direction of the rack guide 10, has a gas chamber 51, and may contract in the moving direction. When the rack guide 10 moves against the compression coil spring 40, the rack guide 10 compresses the cornice 50 while compressing a gas in the gas chamber 51.

    【課題】初期予圧荷重を小さくしつつ、ピニオン歯及びラック歯が離間し難いラックガイド機構を提供する。【解決手段】ラック軸105をピニオン軸104側に押し付けるラックガイド10と、ラックガイド10を移動自在で収容するハウジング20と、ラックガイド10をラック軸105側に付勢する圧縮コイルばね40と、ラックガイド10の移動方向において圧縮コイルばね40と並列で配置され、内部にガス室51を有し、移動方向において収縮可能である蛇腹50と、を備え、前記ラックガイド10が圧縮コイルばね40に抗して移動すると、ラックガイド10がガス室51のガスを圧縮しながら蛇腹50を圧縮する。【選択図】図2
