PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack guide mechanism which can make compatible both the securement of a favorable steering feeling at a normal time, and the quick restoration of engagement between a pinion shaft and a rack shaft at an emergency by using a single unit of an elastic member.SOLUTION: A rack guide mechanism 10 has: a housing 11; a rack guide 13 for supporting a rack shaft 6 which is movably accommodated in the housing 11; a screw 14 attached to the housing 11; and an elastic member 15 which is interposed between the rack guide 13 and the screw 14, and energizes the rack guide 13 to the rack shaft 6. The elastic member 15 comprises a cylinder part 25 which is constantly gripped by the rack guide 13 and the screw 14, and a flange part 26 which is gripped by the rack guide 13 and the screw 14 when the rack guide 13 moves to the screw 14 side by a prescribed distance by integral molding.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
