PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerant evaporator capable of suppressing degradation in refrigerant distribution performance.SOLUTION: A refrigerant evaporator 1 is configured to switch a refrigerant flow direction over between core width directions of heat exchange core sections 11 and 21. A first small core section 211b and a second small core section 212b are provided in a first leeward heat exchange core section 21a and a second leeward heat exchange core section 21b, respectively. A third small core section 111b constituted by a tube group opposed to at least part of the first small core section 211b and a fourth core section 112b constituted by a tube group opposed to at least part of the second small core section 212b are provided in a first windward heat exchange core section 11a and a second windward heat exchange core section 11b, respectively. Refrigerant from the first small core section 211b is introduced to the fourth small core section 112b, and refrigerant from the second small core section 212b is introduced to the third small core section 111b.
