A control system for use in control of a foundation brake 110 (for example a mechanical friction brake, hydraulic brake) and an electric powertrain 120 (capable of regenerative braking), the control system configured to receive a first signal indicative of modulation of an accelerator pedal by a driver; based on the first signal, determine a deceleration torque demand; receive a second signal indicative of a stability control event being identified; in response to the second signal, determine an electric powertrain deceleration torque limit; determine if the deceleration torque demand exceeds the electric powertrain deceleration torque limit; in dependence on determining that the deceleration torque demand exceeds the electric powertrain deceleration torque limit, generate a foundation brake torque request signal to cause the foundation brake system to provide deceleration torque to achieve the deceleration torque demand. The system ensures the vehicle behaves as expected by the user in a single-pedal driving mode in situations of inadequate grip or slippage of wheels. Also claimed is an analogous method and a set of computer readable instructions to the same.
