A control system receives a position signal at least partly based on data from a first sensor such as a camera 104 indicating a vehicle’s position relative to an obstacle (300, Figure 5) such as a kerb. A first path is determined that will cause at least a first wheel 202 of vehicle 200 to avoid the obstacle; and a second path is determined that will cause wheel 202 vehicle to encounter the obstacle at or above a minimum predefined approach angle, for example to allow the obstacle to be safely mounted. Either a steering control signal may be output for controlling a steering angle of at least one steerable wheel of the vehicle, such that the vehicle follows a trajectory on the first path or on the second path; and/or an instruction signal for causing a user to steer at least one steerable road wheel of the vehicle to follow the first path or the second path. A vehicle system, vehicle and method are also provided.
