A valve support 100 for the hydraulic electronic control units (HECU) of a highly automated driving (HAD) system and/or a classical user-controlled braking system. The support includes a first flat side (101.1; Fig. 8a), an opposing stepped side 100.2 and a perpendicular second flat side 100.3 located on the bottom in use. A first bore 500 extends from the first side towards the stepped side for accommodating a linear actuator of a first electric motor 2. A second bore (600; fig. 8a) parallel to the first but on the stepped side is for accommodating a shaft 400.1 of a second motor 400 (for a secondary redundant braking system). A third perpendicular through bore 700 is for accommodating two pistons of the second motor. The flat sides also each accommodate multiple electro-mechanical valves in corresponding holes 4.1. A first ECU 300.1 is to be located on the first side and a second ECU 300.2 on the second. A brake fluid reservoir 1 is accommodated on an upper part of the stepped side. The block may also accommodate a pedal feel simulator and tandem master cylinder in respective fourth and fifth bores (800, 900; fig. 8a).
